Our Favorite Hiking Trails and Waterfalls of the Maine Lakes and Mountains Region
Maine Hiking Trails and Waterfalls

The Great outdoors

Fresh Air Hikes and Waterfalls.
If you are daydreaming about fresh air hikes, pristine lakes, and waterfalls - Bridgton Maine - The Lakes and Mountains Region - is the perfect destination. The area's fresh lakes and high peak mountains provide lots of outdoor adventure opportunities all year long. Now in spring, the snow is melting, waterfalls are gushing, and dirt hiking trails are starting to reveal themselves. Here are some of our favorite spring hikes and local waterfalls.

Hiking Trails

Pleasant Mountain and Bald Peak Trail
Located just 7.8 miles from the Inn, this mountain is southern Maine's tallest mountain standing at 2006 feet tall. This mountain has 6 trails providing great day hike options for experienced hikers. The 4.6 mile trail of Bald Peak Trail starts out steep, becomes more gradual and at the top rewards you with scenic views of the Moose Pond, Mt Washington and the White Mountains.

Sabattus Mountain
In the nearby town of Lovell, Sabattus Mountain offers spectacular panoramic views of the White Mountains and Kezar Lake Region. This is a well-marked, 1.4 loop trail that has moderate difficulty and modest climbs. At the top there are memorial benches that are ideal for enjoying a snack or watching the wildlife. This trail is a favorite in fall with sweeping views of the changing foliage.

Pondicherry Park Trails
In the heart of Bridgton is Pondicherry Park. This 66 acre park has woodchipped paths and streams. The 2.3 mile easy trail system meanders through 2 bridges, one being a 60 foot stunning pedestrian covered bridge that spans Stevens Brook at the entrance. Spend a few hours leisurely hiking, afterwards enjoy the downtown of Bridgton. This park is picturesque, peaceful and well-groomed with ample parking.

Bald Pate Mountain
The 428 acres of preserve at Bald Pate Mountain offer scenic views and a network of trails. Of the 7 trails that are available, 3 are loop trails and all are meticulously maintained and marked well. This mountain is a short 10-minute drive from the Inn and many of our guests enjoy it.

WaterfallsThere are 3 waterfalls within 30 miles of the Town of Bridgton.

Kezar Falls
north of Lovell off of Route 5 is a hidden gem. An easy .1 mile trail leads to a waterfall that has a 25 foot drop. It is a favorite local picnic spot. Unfortunately, downed trees prevent swimming or diving at this location.

Steep Falls north of Oxford in Newry. This waterfall is low at 6 feet high, but strong on flow. The width of the falls, at 75 feet, make this a very scenic and photogenic spot. The river is deep enough to wade and take a dip.

Diana's Baths - North Conway, New Hampshire. This is a wonderful day trip from the Inn. North Conway is approximately 29 miles away. An easy and well-maintained path leads to the 75 ft high cascading falls. In the summer, visitors enjoy the pools and ledges. This spot is part of the US National Forest System and requires a $3.00 daily pass.

After a long day of hiking and enjoying Maine waterfalls, return to the Noble House Inn and relax on the porch or in your own private room. Order a bottle of wine from our wine list and relax.
